need search to show pictures

Hi, I need to know if this possible: I need to upload all of our employee’s- like 500, then we need to be able to search them. right now when I search, only color blocks come up, no name or image. I can’t seem to find a work around.
I will need to search name, and/or titles. if this isn’t possible with wordpress then I’ll need to find another solution. I tried portfolio and post but that didn’t seem to work either. thankshttps://etnasupply45529322.wordpress.com/?s=aaron

Hi @etnayearbook, can you clarify what you’re hoping to see?
When you search, the results will show a list of pages and featured images with this theme.
Did you want them to show individual people instead?
If so, are you able to create a separate page for each person? You can still use page heirarchy to keep them organized:

yes, I was hoping for a search to pull the images of the individuals. we have 18 branches with a total of 500 employees, I was going to organize by branch,but be able to search for a specific person.

Hi there,
The WordPress.com search will return results from the titles and the bodies of your posts and pages, and from media titles, alt text, file names, and single image captions.
So you can either create a separate page for each employee or add a caption/title to each employee picture.

got it. found that google sites allows searching images with captions. would have preferred wordpress. but I get its maybe an unusual request.

@etnayearbook You can still use WordPress, no problem.
You just need to add a page for each employee. Add a featured image as well to each page, too. And in this particular theme, the title won’t show, but we can help that with some CSS.
Given that there are 500 employees, it’ll be a bit of work to transition over, but it will work.
Please let us know if you need some guidance or ideas on how to do that.

I can see how that will help the search, to pull up people, but I need to organize by branch, we have 19. And now within them they want to sort people by job title. I actually am not sure if any site will do this easily. search people, see the branch they work at and sort within. I thought by tagging or something so I don’t have to manually keep up with list. Thanks for everyone’s help.

You can use the page hierarchy, as @supernovia mentioned above, to create pages for the branches and keep each employee under the correct branch.
You can also look for plugins that would allow you to create an employee database like this. For that, though, you’d need plan Business:
