Need some clarifications about VideoPress

  I am starting an online TV channel kind of thing and I’ve looked into several video hosting solutions. The first one that comes to mind is obviously YouTube but its blocked in our country. Now I am looking at alternatives and I stumbled upon VideoPress. Its documentation is kind of lacking so I’ve some questions.

  I’ll obviously be using it on a self-hosted WordPress blog. What I want to know is that the VideoPress website mentions that you’ve to pay $60 per year. How much video space and bandwidth comes with this?

  And I understand that you’ve to link your WordPress.com account with it to work and the WordPress.com Business subscription (£250) comes with unlimited storage. Do I’ve to buy that subscription to host lots of videos? If yes, then what the $60 which is mentioned on the VideoPress website?

  No, the amount of information on the http://videopress.com is very low and is not enough for me to spend that much money.

  Hi there.

  To use VideoPress with your self-hosted site, you can follow our steps to activate it via our Jetpack plugin:

  The $60 price point you’re seeing on the VideoPress site is how much the upgrade would cost by itself, however, we no longer offer upgrades à la carte. Instead, you can purchase it as part of the WordPress.com Premium or Business plan. These plans also include extra space. Premium is £85 a year, with 13 GB of space, while Business is £250 a year, with unlimited space.

  Although your videos will be added to your self-hosted site, they’ll still be uploaded through WordPress.com and so there isn’t a limit on bandwidth.
