    Hi Everyone,

I have been making some CSS edits to the paperpunch theme with some pretty good results. However I am having trouble link up my custom header logo back to my blog home. I have tried a few work arounds but haven’t gotten any to retain the working link. Blog is located here http://scojonewyork.wordpress.com/

    Thanks in advance!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I cannot help your with CSS so you will have to be patient as there is not Staff support and precious little Volunteer support. Just in case your are not aware of this when you CSS edit a theme you can no longer use the custom image header uploader. You must upload the image into your Media Library and then link to it in the CSS.

Yea I knew that, however I don’t think I had an option to uplode a custom header with this theme.

This is a little difficult to do, and the difficulty is the fault of Internet Explorer, which does not recognize “transparent” as a color value while all other browser for years have. If it did, it would simply be a matter of setting the title a and title a hover colors to transparent and it would overlay the logo and make it clickable.

One way to do this is to create a text widget with the image and hyperlink (HTML) and then use position absolute to move it up to the header area. This has a slight drawback as the position of that text widget will shift depending on whether someone is logged into wordpress or not (actually the rest of the page shifts, not the logo, to make room for the grey admin bar at the top when logged in).

Actually, I haven’t tried this with the text widget repositioning trick, but it should work.

Leave your logo as it is and create a transparent PNG image that is large enough to cover your entire logo.

Put that into a text widget and link it to your main page and then position that text widget up and over your logo. Since it is transparent it will not matter with the shift in the page elements that happen when someone is logged into wordpress. You can even make the transparent image say 20px taller than your logo image to compensate for the shift.
