Need some help with setting up a 'menu' page

    Hi all,
I’m brand new to WordPress.com and struggling somewhat.
I’m trying to set up a blog-style site using the Twenty Twenty theme as a starting point.
On the opening page I have a “Blog” menu selection.
When I click on Blog and go to the Blog page, I would like to have a list (or menu or whatever you call it) of the descriptive blog entries with dates (but not the actualblog entries themselves).
I want to then click on a blog entry which would then take me to a different page where the actual blog entry is.
This is probably very, very basic, but this is where I am stuck.
    Thanks a bunch.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi johnerbes, honestly we don’t usually have dropdowns with entry dates, so it isn’t that basic.

It wouldn’t generate automatically for you, but if you wanted to create a menu like that yourself, use these steps:

    Menus

.. but add links to individual posts. Then, edit the label for each menu item, and change it to a date.

If you wanted to include links to posts within a time period (like “December 2019”) let us know and we’ll help you link to that archive page.

    Hi sn,
It looks (at least at first glance) like this may be a way to get this to work.
    Time will tell.
Thanks for taking the time to respond.
