Need step by step help with Juliet
-
I’m not an IT savvy, coding is alien to me and the delete key can be scary! :-(
Just installed Juliet but I’m struggling to setting up the website, cannot figure out how to create a drop down menu on my front page. I attempted creating a category (or was it a menu?) called mind+soul for the front page and I dont’t even know where it went :-(
Overwhelmed by the minute and motivation dropping down, grateful if anyone could point me in the direction where to find a step by step video or tutorial so I can follow please? Does Juliet or Lyra Themes offers online help?
My aim is to have a front page just like the Juliet demo page. Any guidance will be indeed appreciated! Thank you in advance.

When you say Juliet theme, are you referring to this theme? https://wordpress.org/themes/juliet/
Note that Juliet theme is available only for self-hosted WordPress (WordPress.org) sites.
The community forums we’re on is meant for questions related to WordPress.com account, and sites managed by WordPress.com.
Juliet theme does not seem to be available for WordPress.com sites. Also, to clarify, are you talking about this site? http://mypebblesandripples.com/
It looks like Juliet is a theme offered by LyraThemes like you’re aware. It’s best to contact their customer support team on this page. https://www.lyrathemes.com/contact/
Plus, it’s encouraged that you read about categories on WordPress.com here. https://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/categories/ This might not directly apply to your self-hosted WordPress (WordPress.org) (in the same format), but categories make up a necessary building block for WordPress. I hope this link offers help in some sort.
You can always feel free to post any WordPress.com related questions you might have on this community forums meant for WordPress.com. Someone from the community or a staff will be able to help. Thanks.

Also, I encourage you to post on self-hosted WordPress (WordPress.org) community forums https://wordpress.org/support/ as that’s the community forums meant for discussions related to self-hosted WordPress (WordPress.org) sites.

Hi there, Just to add to what @strikebuys mentioned and to clarify, WordPress comes in 2 flavors: the fully hosted WordPressdotcom (where we are ) and the open source WP (org) project at https://wordpress.org This support guide explains some of the differences between them: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
In general, you can find all the support information for sites using the WP (org) software at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page and at https://wordpress.org/support/ If you don’t have a username on the ORG forums, you can register one on that page.
And as @strikebuys also mentioned, you can likely get assistance from the Juliet theme author as well. https://wordpress.org/support/theme/juliet
Best wishes.

Thank you both for the response. I will then look for a WordPress.com theme for mypebblesandripples.com and try all over again. Wishing a good day to you all.

Hello again, @pebblesandripplesblog –
mypebblesandripples.com is currently hosted at BlueHost and is using the standalone WordPress software.
Unless you are intending on moving your site here to WordPressdotcom, you don’t need to change to a “WordPress.com” theme. Things hopefully will be clearer if you read the support guide I linked to earlier https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Thank you justjennifer.
Lots of information to digest I guess and learning that the process of putting together a website is not as easy as I thought its was going to be.
Again, BlueHost, WordPress, .com, .org, … not part of my natural environment and the language not one I can understand. All I know is that I’m charged for a domain and don’t know how to start a website.
Getting better at resetting WordPress and wondering what to do next.
Thank you very much indeed for the response and attempting to help.
