Need straight talk from peers about my blog

    Hi guys,

I need straight talk from fellow bloggers. I thought this place would be a good spot to get it. I am the owner of Inspiration Point. It is a WordPress blog that originated here on WordPress.com. It’s now hosted at Blue Host.

It’s been almost two years, since I moved it. Unfortunately, I didn’t anticipate the time and energy in caring for my mother. She had a stroke that affected parts of her brains. She’s now in a nearby nursing home. I see here, 3x a week. I spend a few hours, each time.

As for my blog, my original goal was to create encouraging stories with a Christian worldview. I was hoping to generate a secondary income with this blog.

Though I have been blessed with some good stories and I’ve gotten some site traffic. My site’s performance is not so great. Because of exhaustion, I’ve taken a break. Today, I am re-examining my situation and I need to hear from fellow bloggers.

If you’d like to see my writing style, then please visit my site in ate link, above. Aside from my faith, I am passionate about speaking out on the issues. The other day, I visited a site that berated the “spiritual advisors” for the Bible mini series.

It grieved me when I read the criticism. The criticisms were in the form of accusations and they offered no help. Did I see some problems? Yes, I did and I saw an opportunity to share.

In another situation, I was watching a serie of video about an oven. I was very appreciative of the cook, who demo the NuWave oven. I simply ignored any quirky behaviors. However, I was sadden to see commenters, who were more interested in personal attacks.

You see, I am a man who’d like to speak up on certain issues and I’ll point to Scripture, if needed. In a good way, I’d rather challenge and provoke my reader, then attack and tear down.

Would I still write encouraging stories? Yes, I would and they do have a place.

I would really appreciate some feedback and straight talk about my writing and the blog. Where do I go from here?

This is completely the wrong place to get an analysis of a WordPress.org blog. Ask at WordPress.org or in forums set up for that purpose.

This is the technical support forum for people who have technical issues with WordPress.com blogs. You don’t have either.

I just checked. I am posting this in the Ideas forum. It’s not in the Support forum.

Isn’t the Ideas forum for people needing feedback? I will try and move it, for better results.

Ah, you’re right about the ideas forum not being the Support forum, but it’s still a forum specifically, only for bloggers with blogs at WordPress.com, and the Ideas forum is for giving staff ideas how to adapt the software.

There is no off topic, social, or analytical forum here. There are millions out there on the web you can use.

Your site is a WordPress.ORG software install.

    See here: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/requests-and-feedback

WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support forums. http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the Theme support forums there.

WordPress.org support docs are at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page

Also note that Staff do allow WordPress.ORG bloggers and others to post in the Community Pool threads on Sundays. Here’s the link to the latest thread http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2014/11/17/community-pool-90/
