Need template that is not blurring photography
-
Hello, I have the iNove template for my original blog, great template. It seems to not be available anymore. I expanded to a second blog for just sports photography and have tried about 10 of the free templates: they are all blurring the photos, from 72 dpi to 300 dpi res. Even if I carry a photo over <img src> tag, the end display is terrible. I need a free template that is not going to distort photography. Please advise!
Example:
Published on WordPress with iNove is clear:

This has nothing to do with the theme. Images lose some color and sharpness when the inserted version is a scaled down version of the file you have uploaded. See this post of mine for an example:
http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2010/01/16/image-quality/On your iNove example, the landscape-shaped images are 432px wide, and that’s the actual width of the uploaded files. On your Zoren example, the inserted versions are 300px wide while the files are 4288px wide.
For best quality on the post, you need to use an image editing application to scale down copies of your images to the desired displayed pixel width, and upload these copies, selecting the full size option.

Thank you. I can scale them down in ‘Shop. I wanted the image size at the higher 4288px wide so that players can just download and print their own images. :/ Maybe I will have to get a Photobucket or Flickr; it is not looking like WP is the right tool for the job. I really hate the redesign on Flickr. If you have a fave image sharing site in the free to low cost range, much appreciate that. I am not getting paid, this is just practice photography and altruism. ☺

You’re welcome.
Yes, WP isn’t the best tool for the job, because they compress the images you upload. But I also hate Flickr etc, plus images stored in other sites take longer to load than images uploaded to your own blog. You’ve got two options: option a (simple), do as you do now and be content with reduced quality on the post; option b (painstaking), downsize copies of your images in Photoshop, upload both the original and the downsized version, insert the downsized version and make it link to the original (if you need more details on this, let me know). In both cases you can add a note that says click on image to view/copy the full-size original. -
I decided to go Cro Mag by dropping 40 photos on a Google group [free] and they are numbered and in order; then I put them in Dropbox so the guys know what pictures are available and I can share the Dropbox folder and anyone can print the high res photo to enjoy. ☺ Not brilliant but it got the job done. Hockey photos for everyone!
