need the blog address to Facebook posts and shares
-
A friend shared my blog and when it posted the address was wordpress only and not my full blog address. http://www.ponderingsandpearls.wordpress.com
How can I fix this? Thank you, Judy Dearing (email visible only to moderators and staff)
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Judy,
When you say that it was just WordPress, do you mean there was no ponderingsandpearls part at all? Or do you mean that there was no custom domain?
Also, in what way did they share it? Did they manually send it out via email/Facebook, etc, or did they use one of the share buttons? If it was the former, is it possible that they typed in the address incorrectly?
Let me know any additional details you might have! Thanks so much in advance.

It just says WordPress — there’s not the ponderingsandpearls part at all. I’d say she shares it by clicking on Facebook at the bottom of my blog posts.
If by chance she shared by clicking “WordPress this” would that be the reason?
Shoot. I just clicked on wordpress this and then checked Facebook and it showed up as wordpress. Is there any way I can change something so that the ponderingsandpearls show up?

That’s very strange! Could you let me know what you clicked on in order to share it and have it just display “WordPress.com?” I haven’t been able to make it do the same for me and I’d like to see what is causing this.
Let me know and I’ll see what’s going awry! Thanks in advance.

I’m letting that problem go for now and trying to have my post go automatically to FaceBook. I’m using Publicize, but again I must have settings wrong somewhere as it does not post. I’m ready to pay someone to fix this.
-
OK, switching gears.
I just looked in your Dashboard and it doesn’t look like Publicize is connected right now. When it is, when you write a post on the right hand side under Publicize it will display where your post is going to be pushed out to. Right now yours is showing as “Not Connected.”
You’ll need to go back to Settings >> Sharing and re-add your Facebook account to Publicize. If you previously had at attached, then you might need to go through and fully remove the connection by following the instructions in this help article:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/#reconnecting-services

Thank you so much for helping. I followed the instructions very carefully and removed and then reconnected and still do not see where I’m connected to Publicized. I went to Facebook and followed the app instructions and then clicked on WordPress.
I’m wondering if this will apply to future posts only and it will not publicize the one I created Saturday.
Would you please be so kind as to check it again and see what else might be going on. Thank you, Judy.
-
It looks like it is now showing that it is connected when I look. Here’s a screenshot of what you should be looking for:
To answer your question, Publicize doesn’t publish any of your past posts, it will only publish future ones, the very first time that post is published. So any updates you do are not pushed out additional times.

I notice that when someone share a post on FB, wordpress goes to the welcome page instead of the post. Can I fix this?
Judy.
-
It’ll depend on how they’re sharing. Usually if they share using one of the buttons on a post (or the post’s URL) then when they click the link FB will send visitors right back to that post rather than to your front page. If however they are sharing your site just using the main URL or a share button on your home page, then that’s where visitors will be redirected to.
-
I also changed safari settings to allow cookies. You had said posting to FaceBook would begin with the next new post so since it didn’t I’m wondering if I should delete this post and create it again as new one.
Please advise. http://www.ponderingsandpearl.wordpress.comJudy

If you would like your post to go out via Publicize, then yes you should.
I would specifically use the Classic Editor which is available by logging in to your Dashboard and then going to Posts >> Add new. The Publicize feature in the New Editor has been having some bugs and issues with Publicize has been amongst them. I’m not sure if you’ve been using that editor when you create your posts, but if so that might be part of the problem.
-
I do not see Classic Editor. Is this an option after I complete the post and before I publish?
-
Okay . I found classic, delete post and created new under classic. It still did not post to Facebook.

I’m very sorry, but it looks like there are some errors again from Facebook showing in our logs for your account. You will need to completely disconnect Facebook within your account and then reconnect it.
Here are some instructions on how to do so:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/#reconnecting-services
I’m leaving the office for the day right now, so if I don’t respond that will be why. Hopefully this will work for you!

WordPress is most frustrating. If you read the above I have been trying to get this going for weeks.
I followed the instructions and it did post to FaceBook, but in such a way that I had to delete it and post a blog comment myself. It was disconnect, having two sections, and did not have my site photo. The second time it posted the same way but listed the wrong page.
Is there anyone who can fix this, even if I have to pay?
-
I’m very sorry that this is frustrating you. I’m helping you as much as I can. We do not have any higher level of support available, even for a fee.
I didn’t realize that your goal for publicize was to have it send out your site’s image. Unfortunately publicize will only send out images which are present in your post, not attached to your site as a whole (since the purpose of publicize is to draw attention to your specific posts).
If you are looking for the ability to have your posts always show the same image from your site then you will indeed to not attach images to your posts ever and you will need to share them manually to Facebook.
-
My goal is to have the blog post transfer automatically to FB. And for it to show the recent post page, not the welcome page.
I only spoke of the photo because when it did post there was an empty square box on the left.
Yesterday when it transferred to FB it did so in two sections along with the empty box in the second section.
-
I just took another look at the post which you published yesterday (http://ponderingsandpearls.wordpress.com/2014/08/18/you-cannot-weary-my-love-4/), and it does not have any images. Since there are no images, there is nothing for Publicize to present to Facebook to place as an image, so it is going to present only an empty square in such a case.
If you would like to have an image along with your post, you need to make sure you include one in your post which is at least 200px by 200px, which is a requirement of Facebook’s.
