Need to add limited drop-down menu to anchor menu

    Hi!
I’m on davidnilsenbeer.com, utilizing the pique theme.
As you can see, I have an anchor menu. The menu items are “jump links,” which take the visitor to a particular part of the static front page. I love this, and want nothing to be different about the way that works.

However, I also want to, under one menu item – Writing & Education – add a drop down menu, which would have one link to the writing page (currently linked to in the writing panel) and one link to the education page (currently linked to in the education section).

Is there a way to do this?

    Hi,

Yes, both of these objectives can be accomplished. However, because the anchor menu is automatically generated, it cannot be customized as one would a custom menu, so you’ll need to replace it with a custom menu.

First, create a custom menu that replicates the anchor menu by using custom links. For example, the “About David” menu item links to the URL https://davidnilsenbeer.com/#post-2. Just add a menu item to the custom menu as described and illustrated in the Add menu items section of the Custom Menus support page, using the Custom Links option. Copy and paste the anchor link URL for each custom link item.

I also want to, under one menu item – Writing & Education – add a drop down menu, which would have one link to the writing page (currently linked to in the writing panel) and one link to the education page (currently linked to in the education section).

These items may also be added as described in the Add menu items section of the support page. Just choose from the appropriate type (page, post, etc.) in the Add Items module that opens when you click the Add Items button. You may arrange some items under others, creating drop-down menus, as described and demonstrated in the Organize your menu and add sub-menus / drop-down menus section of the Custom Menus support page.

Once you’ve assembled this happy custom menu, you may select it as your primary menu at Customize > Menus > Menu Locations. Make sure to also uncheck the box labeled “Add an anchor menu to the front page.” at Customize > Theme Options > Menu Settings.

Ah – thanks. Will try that in the morning, when I’m a little bit more ready for discovering the wonders of custom menus. Fingers crossed it works!

Actually, decided to tackle it tonight after all, and it works perfectly. Thanks!

    Excellent! You’re welcome. :)

Great, it worked! Since you just wanted to anchor to the drop-down list, you do not have to create a completely new list like this, just add the submenu items and link them accordingly. thanks for your help! CAS-002 Dumps
