Need to Cancel My Domain Name And Recreate A Different One Quick

I just created a new domain name this morning and I want to change it. I am within the 48 hour window but I don’t want to create a new one until I can get my free domain credit applied to the new one. Can this happen quickly? I am trying to publish the new site to my audience but want to give them the new domain name.

Also: Your help documentation is no longer accurate as it sends you to a page that no longer aligns with the screenshot. Must be from the latest update or something so I would recommend fixing that to avoid unnecessary questions like this.

You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard, cancel any upgrades, claim a refund for any qualified upgrades, and disable auto-renew.
WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers. The refund period for Domain Registrations and Renewals is 48 hours.
Note: It takes from 1 – 2 weeks for the refund to be received.
Provided you are logged in under the same username account that purchased the upgrade, and you are within the allowed time frame for refunds, you can cancel and request a refund from your dashboard > Store > My Upgrades. See Screenshot. Notice that the screen is different now and while you can still cancel the upgrade, you no longer have the option to cancel a domain, only the privacy of that domain.

Thanks for providing a screenshot for Staff. Please be patient while waiting for them to work their way forward through all earlier threads tagged for their help prior to this one being tagged.

Thanks timethief: If I am going to go ahead a create the new domain now and make it my primary. Then when they get around to seeing this thread they can process the refund and make my new domain the free one.

The cancel domain option only appears for stand-alone domain registrations, not domains that are registered as part of a plan. That’s why you didn’t see that option. We are in the process of updating all the support documents to reflect the recent changes.
As domain cancellations cannot be reversed and we have no control over how long it might take for the domain to become available again, I just need you to confirm that you want to cancel the domain, seedsofchrist.com. Once you confirm I can cancel it and process your refund.
