Need to change back header and single page codes

In an attempt to improve SEO performance, I altered code for single php (deleted it) and replaced with code for header php. I was following someone’s blog suggestion. I must have done something wrong because there are errors when accessing my blog articles from Google. I guess that I need to reinstate the original code for these two settings but I don’t know how to source the original setup or reinstate the two items I changed. Can someone help?
