need to change the domain name

    Hi, I am working on a site and I am quite happy with the layout. But I need to change the domain name. I am gotten a new domain name. My question is can I migrate the work I’ve done to the new domain? Or can I change the old domain to the new domain? Thank you

    Hi there,

    Are you referring to the WordPress.com URL?

    You can change your blog address by going to My Blogs, and clicking the Change Blog Address link that appears when you hover over the address you want to change:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/

    Note that you have the option to choose your user name to match the new blog address. If you choose this option, you will not be able to revert back to the original username, and it can affect profile URLs for other services such as Gravatar or IntenseDebate.

    Hi there,

    Thanks so much for your information. my situation is I want to change my domain address. What I ended up doing is creating a separate wordpress with the domain I want (i.e. the new domain name). But since I can’t just move my old site to my new domain, what I did was deleting the new domain and was planning to to change my old domain to the new domain. But since I deleted the new page with the new domain name, wordpress still indicated that the new domain is being used and I can’t change it to the name I want. I don’t think the domain I want is being used, it probably has not been ‘recycled’ since I deleted it. I have waited a week to try again, it still says it’s being used. Is there any way to reclaim that domain name I want (i.e. my new domain name)? sorry if this is confusing. Any help is appreciated!

    Hi there,

    What is the URL of the new blog that you deleted? Deleted blogs cannot be restored or reused. Deleting a blog is usually permanent and the name cannot be used again for at least 2 years.
