  how can I continue the chat we started today; I need to make sure that the site I am creating can be accomplished at WordPress.com; I am afraid that I should have used WordPress.org, but I am not sure. need help with understanding everything I can do with my domain at wordpress.com. Thx!

  Hi there Kim! You can return to your Dashboard and the moment a Live Chat operator is available, when you click “refresh,” you’ll see a dialogue box.

  In the meantime, I can give you some details about WordPress.com vs WordPress.org:

  If you want a full e-commerce site, and would like to stay on WordPress.com, you’d need to upgrade to Business:

  WordPress.com Business [Redirects to Plans]

  
  If you have questions about this upgrade, please let me know.

  Without that upgrade, you can only sell products that you’ve devised and produced yourself on WordPress.com sites. Additionally, you’d need to use PayPal buttons, versus a shopping cart.

  If you choose to start a self-hosted site via WordPress.org, you can transfer your custom domain to your new server. Here is information about that process:

  Thanks for such a quick reply. I’d like to create a site similar to this one: reneeswope.com/ or perhaps like this one: amycarroll.org/

  I need the home page to be the blog, with menu buttons for more information, including the ability to purchase my book. I don’t plan to stock or ship the books, so I guess the ability to link right to Amazon, Barnes&Noble or other websites that will sell it would be necessary.

  Finally, I also hope to upload videos. Is that possible on my WordPress.com site?

  Hello there! A link to your own book is absolutely fine. You can also upload video to your site. It sounds like a WordPress.com site will work out great for you.

  It appears as if you’ve chosen a theme already. It is quite lovely, but if you’d like a website/blog that is closer in appearance to the links you sent me, you’ll want a theme with a custom header:
  http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/custom-header/
