A website and a blog/newsfeed are very similar and the Alves theme is pretty much set up as a website already with a static front page. You can learn more about working with the Alves theme here: https://wordpress.com/theme/alves To change the images and text on your site’s front page, you’ll open your site’s homepage in your Pages dashboard to edit it.
The blog/newsfeed is already integrated in your site and that is where you’ll want to post news, events and suchlike. When you publish new Posts, your latest 3 posts will appear on your site’s homepage under the “Recent Causes” section of your homepage.
