Need to create sub menu items not relating to a blog
-
Hi
Could you please help me? I’m looking for a simple theme which as well as allowing me to blog would also have a side menu to the following items:
Bibliography section (custom menu heading)
Research (sub menu heading)
– link under research
Fiction books (sub menu heading)
– link under Fiction Books
Advisors (sub menu heading)
– link under AdvisorsI would probably need more than one link under each sub menu but this is just to give a picture. I’d like the sub menu headings to be static rather than linking to any page. I’ve spent hours looking at forums and tutorials for advice but not managed to find the advice I’m looking for.
Thank you for your help in advance, I look forward to hearing from you!
Regards
Susanna

There are many common errors, misunderstanding and misconceptions when creating custom menus and you can read about them here > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2011/12/19/custom-menus/ -
thanks timethief. I’ve managed to set some static tabs now – Research, Fiction Books and Advisors. I don’t have a drop down menu so is there any way of distinguishing the static tabs from categories, links etc by making them bold and black?
thanks for your help.

Here is the link to my WP blog, to make my question a bit clearer.

Some themes are designed to provide dropdowns natively and some do not. If you create a custom menu that results in dropdowns. Any fonts changes to item tabs in custom menus requires an annually renewable custom design upgrade. http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/

thanks, I thought this might be the case…last question I promise! Do you know any good simple themes similar to ‘Publish’ which might have a bit more flexibility that way, with a vertical dropdown menu or static tabs which show up differently to the categories below them?
I’ve produced a blog in WordPress before but nothing with additional features.
Thanks again.
