Need to delete my presence with WordPress
-
Had a failed attempt at creating a site on WordPress more than a year ago and still can’t get rid of it’s presence on search engines. Every tip and tutorial in how to fix this hasn’t worked. (Click on ‘tools’–nope, that didn’t work.) (Click on ‘edit’–where is the darn edit button??) In WordPress I deleted my name and personal info, hoping to keep my site blank, but nope, that doesn’t work. Can’t some WordPress Official Person click a switch to get rid of me?

Hi @ellemott,
I would be happy to help you through this situation. Firstly, could you let me know the site you need help with?
WordPress.com accounts cannot be deleted. Accounts are not deleted as a measure to protect you from being impersonated and have your reputation affected by anyone registering the same username in the future. However, you can easily delete your blog. If you wish to leave WordPress.com, you can just leave your account inactive. To unsubscribe from any email notifications from WordPress.com, go to your subscription settings and check the box that says “Block all subscription emails from WordPress.com”. Also: change/rename your username, and reuse email addresses.
Please check that you’ve followed these steps:
There are steps you can take that amount to removing all personal information and result in leaving only a throwaway email address behind, please follow this link for more info: http://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/
You can go to
My Account > Edit Profile
at https://wordpress.com/me/account and remove all data except the account name and an email address. Create an email address and change the account email to that address. This only leaves the username behind.
I hope this is helpful. If you have gone through all the steps here outlined and still require help, we can tag staff to help. Let me know :)

This isn’t working. I still show up on search engines with my personal info blasted out. I need out of Word Press–or completely hidden since you say once I’m in, I can’t leave (is this the dark ages, no divorce allowed?).

Copy and paste of pictures I can’t seem to do in this forum either; if you search “elle mott website” you get more info than needed for https://ellemottsite.wordpress.com/

Hi @zyxwspot,
I can verify that your site https://ellemottsite.wordpress.com/ is still visible in google search – furthermore, I can still access it. I think the next step would be to delete the site, if this is what you would like to do.
The link below offers a step-by-step on how to delete the site:
Let me know if this helps!

Of course that’s what I want to do–delete it–did you not read my original post? I need out of here! When time allows, I’ll try the attached. However, this is one of countless attempts to resolve this issue. No more. After this doc, should this also not work, I will need to pursue legal action to get rid of WordPress!

Hi there,
Do you have access to the account that is connected to the site? You are contacting us from an account not associated with the site you want to delete. We will be able to further assist you if you are able to post into this thread under that account.
Regarding removing you site’s content from search engines, it’s up to Google to decide when and how to include/remove this page from search results, WordPress.com doesn’t have any control over that. For more information you can read our FAQ about search engines here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/search-engines/You can try requesting removal from Google by following the instructions here:
http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=92865Google also provides information and tools for webmasters, you might find further information on their tools here:

Thanks!
