Need to edit old site
-
When I log in, my account does not show my site/dashboard (and no, it isn’t at wordpress dot org). Site is still there when I go direct to it. I assume some wp update caused this. Where on my actual site can I log in to edit, OR where in my account can I reconnect to my site? Thank you!!!

To make sure we’re on the same page, are you logging in on your WordPress.com account at this page? https://wordpress.com/
If your self-hosted WordPress (WordPress.org) site is added to your WordPress.com account, it should show up on the list of sites, on your WordPress.com dashboard. You should ideally see that on the left. Click on the My Sites button at the top left, and it should show your site there.
If you do not see it, you can click on the Switch site button, and it will show the list of all WordPress.com sites and self-hosted WordPress (WordPress.org) sites managed by your WordPress.com account.
If you don’t see your self-hosted WordPress (WordPress.org) site there, it’s likely that the Jetpack connection on your self-hosted WordPress (WordPress.org) site is broken. Can you check if your Jetpack connection is working as expected? This guide should help install Jetpack in the right way. https://jetpack.com/support/installing-jetpack/
Let me know it goes. I will be happy to help should you have more questions!

Since you don’t have a self-hosted WordPress (WordPress.org) site, when you login at https://wordpress.com/, it should show the list of all WordPress.com sites you own with your WordPress.com account.
Can you confirm if that’s not the case? Let me know and I can help further.

Thanks for clarifying!
Given the gravity of the situation, here is what I am doing. I have added a tag “modlook” in this topic. One of the members from the WordPress.com staff/WordPress.com Happiness Engineers should be able to help you through this.

Hi there,
Can you please provide the address of the site you’re trying to access? It sounds like the site you’re looking for belongs to a different account, in which case you’ll need to log into the correct account to access the site.
The only site in this account is https://theonefieldmodel.wordpress.com/, and that site was created only 9 hours ago. This account has never owned any other sites.
@strikebuys, as I’ve asked you before, please confirm the site someone needs help with before tagging a thread for staff, as there is nothing we can do without that information.

Yes, @kokkieh. I understand that. But, in this case, I am a community member and have no access to verifying the sites linked to a certain WordPress.com account/username/email ID. Given the situation, I couldn’t move forward and had to add the tag for staff to overtake this thread.

@strikebuys, you don’t need to have access to our systems to ask someone to give the URL of the site they need help with. Access to our internal tools is useless if you don’t know the site to look for, which is why I also can’t help the OP until they provide that information.

Hi – so my URL is theonefieldmodel dot org. I thought I might be able to find it by typing it in new – that is the one you saw. But that is my site, I have had it since 2013. And I am able to go to it, so I think you will too – I just can’t get to the dashboard anymore even though I can sign in to wordpress dot com. Thank you so much for your help!

Kokkieh, I just found out that the old friend who helped me build my little site in 2013 had since converted it to html from WordPress without consulting me! That is why I can’t find it! I am so sorry to take your times and strikebuy’s. I am having him restore it so I think it should be fine and I will be able to edit without bothering you all again! My apologies!!!

The site at theonefieldmodel.org appears to be using WordPress software. It’s not a static HTML site. Or did you manage to fix it already?
It’s using the open source software found on WordPress.org, and it doesn’t have the Jetpack plugin installed, which is why you don’t see it in your WordPress.com account. If you’re able to access the dashboard, go to Plugins ->Add and search for and install Jetpack. Then go to Jetpack settings to connect the plugin to your WordPress.com account, and you’ll see the site listed and be able to manage it from our end.
If you’re not able to access the dashboard, please see the software documentation on resetting the password here:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password
The site appears to be currently hosted by Mediatemple.net, so they should be able to help you with FTP access if needed to reset the password. They might also have a way to reset the password via their hosting admin interface.
