    Hi,
Can you please share the site address that you are seeking help for and also the error message that you are getting while trying to transfer your domain to Bluehost?

  • Hi @wokdiaries,

To add to what @borndehradun asked, did you get the error when exporting your site or when importing it on the new one?

    Hi,
I had managed to migrate the site after several attempts. Some points to note for anyone else who might want to migrate out of WordPress.com to note:

there seem to be a number of incompatibilities between the jet pack for WordPress.com users and self hosted users even when the theme used remain unchanged. As a result, many blocks were flagged as incompatible and had to be recoded and/or deleted.

For example, one of the biggest convenience I enjoyed as a WordPress.com site was the subscription form and follow widgets included in the JetPack. After migration, these are nolonger available in the WordPress installed even though I already installed the latest versions of publicly available JetPack and WordPress. Took me abit of reading up to figure out how to setup my own “subscription” and “follow” facilities on my site. Definitely not for the non tech-savvy. Honestly, information I found on Google has a certain level of assumption that are not clear to new WordPress users like where to find that Tag/function/page they are referring to to do the checks. Had to figure those out painfully.

So after one full day of learning and trial & error, I finally managed to get my RSS redirect feeds going for subscribers and Addit share buttons for the TOP corner of my page. Was a tedious process for newbies really.

Some might ask why not just spend $10 and ask someone to do up the website for me? The answer is, thanks but no thanks. Not that I’m not willing to part with my $10. It’s ok learning how to fish for life here. Otherwise, every time I wanna make changes to my site, I’m at the mercy of the $10 I paid to.

HENCE, in the spirit of life Long learning & independence, I grit my teeth, swallow my frustrations and learn the ropes so I can administer the site on my own. Please continue to give me your encouragement and advise when I need them.

    Thank you!
