Need to export my site to bluehost

    I tried to export my site to bluehost.com but my theme and custom css were lost. Blue host is requesting a zip but I can only download a .xml and .wpress doc. please help, I need to get this site running today.

    The only way to export a wordpress.com website to a wordpress.org hosting is described at https://wordpress.com/support/export/.

    Hi there,

    What is the URL of the site you’re trying to export? The only site in your account is http://donnadoubet.wordpress.com/, but that site is completely empty and hasn’t been updated in years.

    To expand a bit on what @staartmees said above, exporting your theme isn’t possible, as the version of the theme you’re using here on WordPress.com is different from the version you’ll be using on your Bluehost site. Put differently, the version of the theme used here on WordPress.com won’t work if you try to install it at Bluehost.

    To use a WordPress.com theme at another host, you need to download the self-hosted version of the theme from WordPress.com/themes, and install that on the new site manually. Any custom CSS you have added here on WordPress.com, you’ll also need to copy-paste manually to the Additional CSS panel on the new site.
