Need to figure out how to put tabs on my page
-
I’m not sure if the theme I’m using prevents me or not, but I’d like a series of tabs at the top so folks can click by topic to browse what I’ve read. Do I need to pick another theme or is there a way to customize this one?

I guess you mean menu tabs, so that someone just clicks on it, and is taken to the ‘page’ with all the posts on it. You just use the custom menu (appearance -> Menus) to create a link to a category (add it through categories). Then all the posts in that category will be shown.

Yeah, my theme only supports two menu tabs, and even then it forces me to pick one of them as “primary navigation.” I’m going to need a theme with at least four or five.

That’s not correct. You misunderstand the differences between menus and items in menus. Your theme will support as many items (tabs) as you wish to include in your custom menu. Moreover every theme here can have multiple custom menus by using the custom menu widget.

Okay, I think I’ve got it. I’ve got several menu tabs that link to posts I’ve made in those categories, thank you!
