Need to find the database backup

I recently asked wordpress support: “I am in the process of making a formal website and transferring the content of my wordpress account to the website. The webdesigners have asked me to provide the login and pw for the hosting control panel, and also the phpMyAdmin URL. I gave them the login and pw to my blog but they said the login information they are looking for is different. I’m not sure where to find it. Could you please direct me to the location where I can find this information.”

In respone Georgestephanis replied: “Hiya, Haydee!
Unfortunately, WordPress.com doesn’t offer phpMyAdmin direct access to the database, or give any sort of cPanel access. That being said, we do make it easy for you to move as you please! To export your WordPress.com blog, please follow this guide:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/export/

There was no way for me to reply and ask follow up questions. My webdesigner is stuck and has now asked me to ask wordpress “to send you the database backup.”

Please send this information to me.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Your web designer really does need to learn WordPress.com better. This is elementary: you cannot get what he is asking for. You cannot replicate the design. You can’t get the theme files. You can ONLY export the content, and that is what’s covered by that link in the information that George gave you.

Tell him “there is no database backup available for export. There is ONLY the XML file, a backup of the contents. This is because it is WordPress.com, not WordPress.org.”

Of course if he really wants a database backup he could export from WordPress.com, import into a WordPress.org instance (possibly on a local PC rather than a host) then back up the database!

I’m not sure that he would gain anything useful by this though

If they are asking for the phpMyAdmin URL it’s clear they’re looking for something you cannot get from WordPress.com.
