    NO.

God, how are you not getting this.

Your blog is free. Your blog works. This is your blog in its basic, free state: http://snowbirdbob.wordpress.com

If you want fancy things like to connect a domain name to it, that costs money.

It has ALWAYS COST $13 A YEAR FOR DOMAIN MAPPING. I aught to know, since I was the first person at WP.com with a custom domain.

The only thing that changed on your blog is you let domain mapping expire, and it’s your fault the domain doesn’t point to your blog anymore.

YOUR BLOG ADDRESS HAS NOT BEEN CHANGED.

You bought an additional domain name and want it attached to your blog. Okay, fine. Pay the fee.

If you want to find your site at snowbirdbob.wordpress.com, it is free.

If you want to find that same site at ryderwoodrumors.com, it is $13/year for Domain Mapping.

The need for the upgrade and the price has never changed. You had the upgrade before, but it expired. If you want your site to be found at ryderwoodrumors.com you will need to purchase the domain mapping again.

1&1 says they are still sending it to the same place they always have since day one about 10 years ago… That they changed nothing & were
I did not add anything, I have the same domain name I always have had from day one, RyderwoodRumors.com I have never had anything else…!
Is there a number I can call rather than get different answers form so many people…. I hate F*****g changes, I don’t change anything I don’t have to as everything was working fine for years… If I remember right Mapping was something they added new a few years ago, & I checked the box that said no I didn’t want it, I guess if they won’t admit they changed it & are switching me from a FREE acct to a $13 acct I’ll have to pay it now onetime & look for another place to park my Blog where they don’t change their minds down the road once they get you hooked.. Maybe I can set up a new Blog about that….

& why did they make that change & not tell me, & never sent me an invoice to pay when it was due, 1&1 does every year, how was I to know thanks…

sending it to “ns1 wordpress.com” & that WordPress changed me over to: “snowbirdbob.wordpress.com” so it just goes nowhere, my blog has worked for years & I was not paying mapping…

So maybe they should change their website & tell people there are no more free accounts they are now all $13yr— you guys did that not me & not 1&1 the only changes according to 1&1 is what you guys changed

& not 1&1 the only changes according to 1&1 is what you guys changed

WordPress.COM staff can not change anything at 1&1, the only people that can change the settings at 1&1 are you and the 1&1 Staff

What might have happened is you used Domain Forwarding & Masking to just dump RyderwoodRumors.com onto “snowbirdbob.wordpress.com” – – then maybe you tried Domain Mapping one year ($13.-/yr) and that would have required you to have the name servers changed – but you would have needed to do that not the staff here – then after the first year if you let the domain mapping expire your site would stop working

    Just my guess

Also – you said you had some extra charges that don’t seem to be on this account – please follow up with screen shots for the staff so they can figure things out and maybe refund you some money or make sure you are not charged in the future – if you have the billing email please let @gracie know and she can email you with instructions on how to send copies of the email to her so she can follow up

    Map an Existing Domain

    @snowbirdbob
I’m multitasking form my business and do not have time to read the whole thread.

WordPress.com does not accept domain transfers but mapping an existing domain is possible.

Domain mapping of an existing domain URL that you already own and purchased elsewhere is not done free of charge. You will have to renew the domain name purchase where you made it and the domain mapping purchase here every year. Mapping an existing domain costs $13. annually.

In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from and it does not matter what that underlying .wordpress.com URL is. It does not have to match the domain URL.

    Important Notes Before Upgrading http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/#important-notes-before-upgrading

You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard at > Store > My Upgrades to purchase upgrades for the blog.

If you own a domain then see here for mapping an existing domain that you already own http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades is where you do the primary blog set up knowing it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.
