need to make my name private for now

I don’t specifically want to delete my website as If I wan’t it in the future I do not want to lose my site name by deleting. However as it is not working the way I want it to now, in the meantime I want my name not to be found on search engines? example, if I search my name on google it still pops up with my wordpress account however has nothing displayed in the content of page. It isn’t helpful for what I am trying to achieve. I am a painter and so far I haven’t found a template that works for how I want my pages to look. Also upon editing my old website and trying to recreate with my new works, it keeps the old dates, ie from 2014? and that cant be deleted. So until I have figured out how to do this it is very unprofessional for me as an artist for someone trying to find me and opening up a website that isn’t published? I do want it unpublished while I continue to make it work for me, but I don’t want it to come up on search engines while I am going through this process? can this be done? the only solution I can find is to delete and start again later, but as your site says I would be giving up my name. I would really appreciate support and help. Thanks

If I delete my WordPress site and create one again at a later date, if no one has taken the user name I had previously, would I still be able to use that name again?

According to ‘Delete Site’ support page.. “Deleting a site permanently removes it and you’ll never be able to re-use its WordPress.com address (such as yourgroovysite.wordpress.com).”
