Need to migrate module hosted on outside DNS

  • Unknown's avatar

Currently my company (separate from this account) hosts an old WP module on a separate domain. We would like to migrate to a domain/DNS we control, since the domain is owned by a former employee. The hurdle is all of the content. We need help migrating the content to a WP-hosted site, then switching the DNS pointers so that we can take full control of the content and domain.

The domain in question is pmmireports.org, and there’s a lot of historical content we’d like to bring over. If there is a cost, or anything that your team can do to help us manage this process, please let me know.

You can contact me either through this account, or at my email address (email visible only to moderators and staff). I am happy to provide my credentials for the module we have loaded on that domain as well. We have dragged our feet on this because we just haven’t been able to figure out how best to do it.

Any help you can offer would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    John

  • Hi there,

Do you need to import the content to a WordPress.com site? Or rather do you need to migrate content between two self-hosted WordPress (also called “.org”) sites?

Is you’re migrating to WordPress.com, this will help get you started:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/coming-from-self-hosted/

If you mean the later, unfortunately, support staff at WordPress.com do not have access to your self-hosted site’s files or the ability to provide direct support.

In that caes, you can find support for your self-hosted WordPress site here:

    http://wordpress.org/support/

    http://codex.wordpress.org/

You may also wish to contact your host’s support team for more assistance.

Hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
