Need to move site to dot org

I started my blog sometime in February with a wordpress.com platform. Soon after i bought the .com domain from wordpress directly. So i went from buffpuffpuff.wordpress.com to buffpuffpuff.com Over time j have noticed that the wordpress.com platform i began with limits my access and permissions. For example, there are no plugins. I would like to add a code to my page to enable newsletters and subscriptions but it is seeming impossible.
I would like to know if there is a way to do that or it would be better to just switch to a wordpress.org site even though my annual payment for the domain isn’t done.
Or maybe i should purchase another domain at another hosting?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can keep your domain even if you decide to move to self-hosted WordPress.

If you use a mailing list tool like MailChimp or Aweber, you can add a link to your signup form, but can’t embed the form directly in your site.
