Need to reinstall an old plugin version

  • Unknown's avatar

I had a plugin that cam bundled with my theme, now the them is no longer supported. I installed the new theme now my site won’t load correctly. WordPress gave me a message but I hid the message by mistake. How do I fix?

  • Hey there.

It seems that you forgot to include a link to your site. But since you’re talking about plug-ins, I’m guessing that this is a self-hosted site? If so, you should direct your question to the WordPress.org forums.

I would suggest that you make sure that you have disabled the old theme in the WP Admin panel and removed all of the original theme files: use FTP or cPanel to remove the folder in /wp-content/themes/ that refers to your theme’s name. Then reinstall the new theme and proceed from there.

Be sure to back up everything before you start deleting things on the back-end. If you delete something accidentally, there is no way to retrieve it!
