Need to remove side bar from only one page

  I am using later version wordpress with twenty eleven theme,
  i have created a child theme to custimise my theme and i’m using a plugin to customise my sidebar.
  i’m using a custom front page for home page and i dont want my side bar not to appear only on my portfolio page.
  I want to use the entire space of the portfolio page.

  i tried to create a child page theme but its not removing the side bar. please help me.

  sorry for all the spelling mistakes i dint noticed it.

  I mean to say i have created a child page template as well and it shows up on the admin when creating a page as drop down. But still the sidebar is showing up.
