Need to renew domain registration & having issues with Wild West Domains

  Hi, I created my blog through WordPress.com about a year ago, and purchased the domain thewanderingblonde.com (rather than using the free option). After several months of blogging, I decided to switch to WordPress.org and used Bluehost.

  However, I did not actually my domain to Bluehost, I just left the domain with WordPress and pointed the domain to Bluehost’s servers by logging into my WordPress.com account and changing the Name Servers.

  Now, my domain registration is going to expire next month. I logged into Bluehost to renew my registration, and it says my domain registrar is Wild West Domains (this is my first time ever even hearing of them, I do not have an account with them) and my domain is locked and cannot be transferred.

  My first question is, do I really NEED to transfer the domain to Bluehost? I didn’t do that in the past (I just pointed the domain there) and it worked fine, so I’d like to keep doing that. But that’s the only option I see on my Bluehost account regarding my domain. I talked to Bluehost support, and they directed me to Wild West Domains where I asked them to unlock my account. Wild West directed me to WordPress.com, and said since the domain was registered through them, they are the only ones who can help me.

  They told me I could handle domain renewal through my WordPress.com dashboard, but when I try to access the domain page and am logged in I get this error message: Domains are not available for this site.You can only purchase domains for sites hosted on WordPress.com at this time.

  I don’t want to purchase domains–I just want to renew the one I already have. It feels like I’m getting blocked from doing anything by all parties! Any help would be very much appreciated, thanks in advance!
