need to renew WordPress premium and domain but am not the blog owner

  I need to renew the Premium/domain for scienceinpublic.org but I am not the person who set up the blog, although I am an administrator. It’s really important that the blog/domain stays up so I want to renew it without any delay.

  I’ll try to contact the original owner but as the deadline is quite close, is there any other way I can renew the subscription without the danger of any loss of service?

  For example, a gift upgrade might work but do I have to wait until the Premium has expired on 6th February?

  I believe you will have to get the original site owner to transfer the Premium upgrade to you in order for you to renew it. They will have to log in with the username that created the site to do so.

  Alternatively they can post in this thread while they are logged in under their Admin username and request Staff to transfer the upgrade to you.

  The gift upgrade will work, but only for domain renewal. You should be able to access it once the domain expiration overlay appears on the site. http://en.support.wordpress.com/gift-upgrades/#renewing-a-domain-on-a-blog-you-are-a-user-on
