Need to Separate Domains Please

  • Unknown's avatar

I added a new domain under my original address, but I actually want it to be a separate site/blog.

the other issue is, I never made that new domain with the .wordpress.com address, is that a problem?

    So, I need
    1. to move the new domain (coachfresh.org) to it’s own site/blog;
    2. then I want to export data from my current blog so that I can work on the new blog while keeping the current blog up and running.

    3. The other thing is email. So I also purchased the Gmail option (for coachfresh.org); can I move that with the new domain? My current domain already has an email, which I will also be forwarding to the new one once I set it up.

    Current active site: affirmativeacts.org
New (fully registered) Domain, needs it’s own blog: coachfresh.org

    Can you help?
    Thanks so much,
    Fresh!

You’re welcome. I could provide instructions but I believe you would be better served by Staff.

  • Let’s take this one thing at a time:

    1. to move the new domain (coachfresh.org) to it’s own site/blog;

What is the ______.wordpress.com URL of the new site? If you haven’t created it yet, you’ll need to do that before I can move the domain.

    Thanks Root!,

I tried that and it says it’s reserved. I’m hoping by me, but I really don’t recall if I did that already. Is there a way to find out who owns it?
    My name: Fresh White
    My blogs: affirmativeactscoaching and freshencounters

    Thanks so much,
    Fresh!

  • I’m afraid that isn’t what I was looking for.

What WordPress.com site do you want coachfresh.org to point to?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Thank you!!

Once I set it up, the Affirmative Acts will point to it.
If that’s not your question…The other answer is, my DNS server will point to coachfresh.org

    Hope that helps!!

    Thanks,

  • I think we need to back up a step here. I was under the impression that you wanted coachfresh.org to point to another (new) WordPress.com site. In the same way that you currently have affirmativeacts.org pointing to http://affirmativeactscoaching.wordpress.com/ ? Or, are you looking to set up a new self-hosted WordPress site using the software available at WordPress.org and a webhost such as GoDaddy or BlueHost?

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

Also, I’m seeing that you attempted to register coachfresh.org here at WordPress.com, but whois data shows it as being registered at GKG.NET.

    http://who.is/whois/coachfresh.org

Could you have registered it at GKG.net and then tried to register it a second time at WordPress.com as part of your Google Apps purchase?

I'm sorry this is so confusing. Here is my intention:
I'm going to leave Affirmativeacts.org as my website and contact. My new biz name will be Coach Fresh!
This means, I'm keeping Affirmativeacts for at least a year as I rebrand as Coach Fresh! –
So I purchased coachfresh.org from GKG with the intention of setting up an additional blog on WordPress.com which should be: coachfresh.org pointing to coachfresh.wordpress.com ________________
So, instead of going to WP and setting up coachfresh.org – I signed into Affirmativeactscoaching and created a new domain, thinking it would be a different blog – (maybe it is, and I'm just confused).
So, at the end of the day, I'd like my main blog/site to be coachfresh.org ____________

…I'm beginning to have my own doubts about what I'm doing now, LOL! ________________
Thanks for your assistance. Sincerely, Fresh!

  • with the intention of setting up an additional blog on WordPress.com which should be: coachfresh.org pointing to coachfresh.wordpress.com

    Okay!

So, all you need to do is go to this link:

    https://signup.wordpress.com/start/

…and create a new WordPress.com site. Then I will move coachfresh.org over to it.

  • Unknown's avatar

Yes, Thank you! As I mentioned above; it’s reserved.

Trouble is, I can’t tell you if I reserved it or not. Sorry.
Can you see who reserved it?

    Thanks again.

  • You did not reserve it, I’m afraid.

However, as you are using a custom domain (coachfresh.org ), the _____.wordpress.com URL doesn’t really matter, as your viewers will only ever see coachfresh.org. You could register thecoachfresh.wordpress.com or coachingfresh.wordpress.com or even coachfreshyupyupyupyup.wordpress.com. Anything will work.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Okay, I did it!
    I created yaycoachfresh.wordpress.com
the yupyupyup was attractive, but no longer original :-)
I just need 5 minutes to finish setting it up, then I'll log out.
    Thanks,
    Fresh!

yaycoachfresh is up and I'm signed out!!
    Thank you!!

Goes to show, nothing beats an old fashioned phone conversation… At least for an old guy like me. I know you are busy and I thought this would be finished 4 days ago.

I’m going to rebuild the old blog, I needed something yesterday. I totally get that your busy and it’s my fault.

I’m wondering, if I can just refund everything otherwise, I’ll just use that blog for something else.

Thanks so much and hope you’re out enjoying the weekend.
    Best,
    Fresh!

  • I’m sorry that this didn’t come together for you as you had wished.

I would be happy to refund your payments or to help you set up the domain.

    You’re so kind, Thank you!
I’m going to spend the evening considering if I really want to change my brand over which is what this is about.
Have a wonderful night, Fresh! Fresh! White, CPCC – Affirmative Acts Coachinghttp://affirmativeacts.org/
