Need to switch blog to different domain name

  I have a developed blog, that was developed and put on domain name tmdmarketing.wordpress.com before the owner renamed this division as “doc marketing coach”. I have set up the domain docmarketingcoach.wordpress.com… so now how do I switch this blog over to the more appropriate domain name?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  You export the blog you want to move to your hard drive and then import it to the one with the new domain name.

  Is there a selection to do this on the WP site?

  It is one of the FAQ items. I just did this myself (after totally messing it up). Process takes about an hour.

  If I were to create a newly named blog site, then transfer the content to the newly name site, would or could the following be done?

  ** Will the header and drop down menu structures and all content be transferred?

  ** Can others who later attempt to visit the older site (by its name) be re-directed to the newly named site? Or, do I need to keep the old site in place for several months with a message on it?
