Need to switch domain bought on WordPress.com to hosting site

  Hi there,

  I started a website yesterday on WordPress.com and decided that I didn’t want the upgraded plan OR domain that I purchased (satwdenver.com) because I want to switch over to WordPress.org. So I canceled my subscription and domain registration the same day. Now when I go onto a web hosting site to purchase the domain and hosting for WordPress.org, it says the domain is still taken by me. I know that often times it takes up to 72 hours for this info to register but I want to make sure that this domain is no longer owned and held on WordPress.com so that I can repurchase it through a web hosting site.

  It’s been 3 days since you posted and your domain is still showing as registered by WordPress.com so I tagged this thread for a staff member’s attention.

  Howdy,

  I can try to uncancel the domain for you, which you will then need to repurchase through us. Or you can wait for the registrar to release the domain again so that you can register it elsewhere. This typically takes two weeks or so, but is not guaranteed.

  Can you let me know how we get the domain registered to a WordPress.org site if it is hosted on WordPress.com?

  You just need to switch your nameservers to point to your new webhost:

  But again, please let me know if you would like me to try and uncancel the domain on our end, or if you would like to wait for it to be released.

  Since this project is time sensitive I would like you to try to uncancel the domain and I will switch nameservers to point to the new webhost.
