Need to switch from wordpress.com to wordpress.org…need refund or credit asap!

    Hi there,
    I was encouraged to purchase a wordpress site from my biz coach. She neglected to tell me that I would need to get a wordpress.org site and NOT a wordpress.com site. After spending $99 on a premium plan last week, I was just told I need a different site. I haven’t begun construction on the first site I purchased, so I was wondering if I could get a refund on the first site I bought so that I can pay for the proper site I need through wordpress.org? Of if a refund isn’t possible, can the money I paid be credited towards whatever new site and hosting I need to pay for? Please help! Thanks so much :)

    I have flagged this for the staff – you have a custom domain name – you probably want to keep that – so they will need to give you a partial refund

    When you get your new host you can change the name servers to point to your new host for your custom domain name

    then after 60 days you can transfer the domain registration to your new host or a different registrar if you want

    Hey there,

    I can definitely refund the premium plan purchase for you.

    I see that you also registered sarahbryanne.com under your account.

    So that we are on the same page, once you decide to cancel your domain, there is no guarantee that you will be able to reacquire it in the future. Someone else could gain access to it.

    If you want to keep using your domain but you don’t want to use WordPress.com anymore, you don’t have to cancel it. Instead, you can move the domain to another site, using the Domain Administration tool under Store > Domains, at the bottom of the page.

    What I can do is refund you the difference, which would be $73. Otherwise, I can refund the full $99 and cancel both the domain purchase and the premium plan.

    Thank you for getting back to me so quickly! I really appreciate it. Why don’t you go ahead and cancel both the domain purchase and the premium plan. That way I can start from scratch with my business coach right next to me!

    Not a problem! I have canceled your subscription for sarahbryanne.com and refunded the charges back to you. It can take between 7-10 business days for the refund to reflect on your bank statement.
