Need to Switch Jetpack Accounts
-
Hi there,
I am using my own personal Jetpack account for a WordPress website I made for a small nonprofit. Iʻve helped the nonprofit get started, and I am now leaving the company. My last day is March 3rd.
I would like to set up a new Jetpack account for the company and connect that to the existing website and disconnect my personal account.
Has anyone had experience with this? Iʻd like to take care of this before I go and would love support in navigating this.
Thanks!

Hi there,
Just we can definitely assist you with this. Our support page provides a guide on how to remove self-hosted WordPress site from your WordPress.com account:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/disconnect-jetpack-sites/
However, we could disconnect your jetpack from your WordPress.com account on this end. Let us know if you want us to proceed with the disconnection.
Do you already have the new WordPress.com account to which you want to connect the site? If so, you can follow the below instructions to set up the Jetpack connection:
https://jetpack.com/support/connect-to-wordpress-com/
During the connection process, you’ll be prompted to connect to whatever WordPress.com account you’re currently logged into. So, if you’re making the connection yourself, make sure you’re logged into the right account.
Hope this helps! -
Thank you. I would like to keep my Jetpack account connected to my personal WordPress account, so that wonʻt need to change. If the company purchases its own Jetpack license, I am hearing that I can just transfer by establishing a new WordPress-Jetpack connection. Is this correct?

You got it! There isn’t really a separation between Jetpack accounts and WordPress.com accounts as such, and I do see that you’re using the free Jetpack for now, so you can rest assured that if you disconnect your own WordPress.com account from your client’s site per the guide above, it’ll still leave your other Jetpack connections in place.
Once the site is disconnected from your own WordPress.com account, your client can go ahead and establish a fresh WordPress.com-Jetpack connection using their own account, and either go for the free Jetpack option, or choose a paid plan e.g. Jetpack Security.
