Need to switch my domain name to WordPress

  I had bought my domain through hostgator, then realized I didn’t need hosting and canceled my accounts with them. Now I need to buy that domain through WordPress. However, when I try buy it a page pops up that says “that domain has already been mapped.” As of now, when I type in my domain name it takes me to a “suspended page.” The domain I need is charterchateau.com.

  Hi there,

  I can certainly cancel the domain mapping which you have for charterchateau.com, but the larger issue is that the domain seems to still be registered over with HostGator:

  http://who.is/whois/charterchateau.com

  If you’d like this domain to work with your WordPress.com site it still can, you’ll just need to log in to your HostGator account and change the domain’s nameservers to:

  NS1.WORDPRESS.COM

  NS2.WORDPRESS.COM

  NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

  At which point the domain will point correctly towards us. The domain mapping should stay in place in that case however!

  Hello,
  Thank you for all your help! I have contacted hostgator, and this is what they’ve told me:
  “Your domain has been unlocked and privacy protection disabled, your EPP key is as follows: [Redacted by staff]. Please take this information to wordpress and have them initiate a domain transfer.”
  Sooo, what do I do now?

  Hi there,

  WordPress.com can’t accept incoming domain transfers, so you’ll need to keep your domain registered over at HostGator. To use your domain with your WordPress.com site, you can log in to your HostGator account and change your domain’s nameservers to the following:

  • NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
  • NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
  • NS3.WORDPRESS.COM
