Need to update existing website

  I have inherited an existing wordpress website. It has not been well maintained, and needs to be updated. I do not know where or how to start. Should I update, and if yes, how, or should I start over?

  by the look of your inquiry, I think you are using self-hosted version of WordPress,

  http://www.daregop.com…..but I have added a plugin “Under construction”. We use “simply hosting”

  Most of the websites can be updated without the need of rebuilding a new one, but that depends on the state of the website and the theme and plugins installed.

  But since your website is not WordPress.com one, but self-hosted version of it,
  you will need to ask for further help on the WordPress.org forum:
  https://wordpress.org/support/
