Need two attempts to publish 1 post

  With my last few posts on http://janefinnisblog.wordpress.com, when I click “Publish”, the new post looks OK from within WordPress and I get the message that it’s published and my followers have been notified. But when I exit WordPress I can’t find the post on the Internet via either Google Chrome or Firefox – and yes, I have cleared their caches. After waiting a couple of minutes I go back into WordPress and see the count of my posts-to-date has not been increased to include the new one. I find the draft, hit Publish again, and this time it works. It’s annoying enough to tempt me to leave WordPress and try other software. Can someone tell me what’s happening please? Thanks.

  How are you connecting to the internet and to WordPress.com?

  If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.

  If you are, please do these:
  (1) Try clearing your browser’s cache http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
  Note: If you are using an IE9 browser in compatibility mode that makes it render as IE7 and IE7 is not supported. To disable see > http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html

  (2) Make sure that you have third-party cookies enabled and JavaScript enabled

  (3) Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.

  (4) Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/

  Timethief, thanks for your help. I’d already checked things like browser caches and made sure cookies etc were enabled, but I hadn’t thought that not all browsers would be supported. My default browser is Firefox (version 22.0 at present) which I’ve had no trouble with elsewhere, but I just uploaded a blog post with Google chrome instead, (file number 28 1500.) This was successful, and slicker than with Firefox, so that looks like the answer.
