Need video of how to set up multiple portfolios ?or projects? on static home page.

@apofibg,
I opened a new tab for snipboard and pasted in the second screenshot with this address, https://snipboard.io/F9rpoL.jpg
.
.
This is the view when I click the edit button on the Personalities featured image. (The same thing happens with the Just for fun image, but I will just work with Personalities.) I don’t see anything that allows me to add pictures. The editor of your Personalities project looks normal. You may add images to the content as described in the Image Block and Media and Text Block support pages, or add a gallery as described in the Gallery Block support page.
Here is the Admin page looking at the list of pages: HomePlace is my home page, but not what is seen when I go to what should be the home page of the website.
https://snipboard.io/ZlNSov.jpg (top)On the Rebalance theme, the content of a page with portfolio page template assigned doesn’t display, regardless of whether it’s set as the homepage. So you won’t find the projects there, and can’t add or edit projects there. Existent projects are edited via the individual project editors. A new project may be created and published as you created and published the other two.

Regarding adding a block, see the “Adding a Block” section of the WordPress Editor support page.

Thanks for your comment “On the Rebalance theme, the content of a page with portfolio page template assigned doesn’t display, regardless of whether it’s set as the homepage. “,
That explains one question I had.
The issue that was really bugging me was not seeing a gallery block option when I clicked the title block, already there when I created a new project. In “desperation” I added a new block and, YAY! found the gallery option.
So I now have the various projects populated with photos. When I look at the active/public page, I can see all my project galleries. I like how the mouse over brings up a nice colored border on the featured picture.
On the “Portfolio” page I made earlier, not the home page, I also had about 5 galleries in masonry format, but these worked differently. When looking at the multiple photo view of the gallery, the photos had their captions over the photo, and when I tapped on a photo, I could go through larger photos unobscured by the captions.
The homepage with its portfolio formatting for the 5 projects does not allow individual photos to pop up when tapping on the gallery. So each photo has only the small photo obscured by the caption. Not terrible on a full size screen, but not acceptable on tablets or cells, (I have it set up for 9 projects)
Questions:
1. Is there an WP gallery option available on a portfolio project so the slideshow opens when one of the individual photos is tapped?2. BTW, I added the Envira gallery plug in but haven’t used it yet. maybe it has better options than the resident WP gallery. Can the envira gallery be used as a portfolio project?
I appreciate your assistance, musicdoc1. I am definitely making progress!

All galleries work that way by default. It’s not working right now, as a recent change to the block editor over on WordPress.org has changed how images in galleries are identified, so our carousel is no longer able to recognize images it should show. Our developers are working on a fix for this, and once that’s fixed the carousel will start working normally again on galleries you added recently.
2. BTW, I added the Envira gallery plug in but haven’t used it yet. maybe it has better options than the resident WP gallery. Can the envira gallery be used as a portfolio project?
For what site is this? Thus far in this thread you’ve only referred to your free WordPress.com site, https://quiltingtheland.wordpress.com/, and it’s not possible for you to install plugins on that site. Using plugins on WordPress.com requires our Business Plan.
That said, you cannot use a gallery as a portfolio project. You can only use one in a portfolio project, i.e. you create a project, and in the editor you add a gallery.
Portfolio projects use the exact same editor as posts and pages, so if you’re on a site that can use plugins, and you’re using a plugin that adds features or blocks to the editor, you’ll be able to use those features/blocks in any content type created in the editor.

Thanks, Kokkieh.
One of the WP links sent to me earlier compared two ways to make galleries, the WP built in gallery, an the Envira gallery. I thought I might try it, once I understood WP better, but I’m definitely not there yet. I read thru the article once or twice, but WP is still pretty mysterious at my level of expertise. I am looking for the link to include it in this post but have been unsuccessful thus far.Interesting-I didn’t know it wasn’t available on the free version of WP. I only have the free version.
Thanks for letting me know the gallery carousel is normally available and will be once some bugs are worked out. I will keep my eye peeled.

Still can’t find the support article, but it included a video that covered both gallery types and showed how to ad the envira gallery plugin.

For what it’s worth, if it will work on a free site here on our servers, you should be able to find the article here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/?s=galleryThe Envira article most likely refers to an installation modified with plugins — either a standalone installation you’re running on your own, or a site hosted with our Business plans.

Thanks, supernovia! I especially like the first link, as it familiarizes me with layout options–I think I will bookmark it. Im not really a candidate for any of the business/professional plans.
I am pretty well pleased with how my static gallery page looks now. I know how to get text where I want it. I will be declaring the topic closed soon. Isn’t there a button where I do that, or is that something WP does?

Yep, I have marked it as Resolved, but if you need to reply again, you can mark it as Not Resolved. :)

Thanks, Macmanx!
I do have two more questions about my static home page formatted as portfolio with project galleries.
Should I start a new topic?
How can I put a page title at the top of the page? I want “HomePlace” to match the menu page name. There is no title now.
If I add a block at the top of what is currently my first gallery, won’t it migrate with that gallery when I add another photo to a different gallery?
Second question: I added that Envira gallery plugin, not sure if I can even use it as part of my free website. I am liking what I have now anyway. Should I “unplug” : ) it? And how?
Thanks!

Yes, it’s best to start separate threads for each question.
These longer threads can get difficult to keep track of. :)
