Need widget color help
-
Hi All,
I have 2 questions, things I would like to solve. Here is the wordpress I am going to ask about. Its a wootheme called Gazette. http://miss-mary-jane.nichegoldwebsites.com
Question 1.) Right above the adsense box, I would like to add a blank box so I can add a graphic for an eBook.
Question 2.) I want to change the widget colors to match the site better. Below the adsense box is an “embedded” widget that I cannot figure out how to change the title tag background.(i.e. popular, latest, comments, tags, and subscribe)
Below the ads there are the widgets that I added. I really dislike the background color of the of the heading tags. They clash with the rest of the website. BELOW IS MY WIDGET CODE IN style.css. I am not even sure if this is the right place.
/*=== Styling Widget Lists ===*/
.widget {
margin-bottom:15px;
}
.widget h3 {
padding: 5px;
}
.widget ul {
margin:0 0 10px 0;
padding:5px 0;
border:none !important;
}
.widget ul li {
border-bottom: 1px solid #eee;
padding:5px 0 5px 5px;
margin:0px;
}
.widget ul li a {
color: #000000;
}
.widget select {
border:1px solid #eee;
width:148px;
margin:15px 0 0 0;
}.textwidget {
padding-top: 15px;
}Any help is appreciated. I would also need to know what “file” to add the code to. i.e. style.css, header.php, theme.php etc.

This support forum is for blogs hosted at WordPress.com. If your question is about a self-hosted WordPress blog then you’ll find help at the WordPress.org forums.
If you don’t understand the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, you may find this information helpful.

what a bummer that no one will respond to help a WP newbie. I was hoping this forum would be a good one. sigh

What a bummer that anyone would expect to receive an instant reply to a support forum thread when the normal time fro receiving a response on any blogging support forum is 11 – 13 hours.
What a bummer that those who do post threads do not read sticky posts at the head of the forums they post to like this one that clearly describes the difference between wordpress.COM free hosted blogs and free software installs from wordpress.ORG that run on different software. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/please-read-me-first-before-posting?replies=1
If you had read the sticky post or listened to the support bot you would have already posted to the correct forum for your software which is here > http://wordpres.ORG/support because the blog in question is not a free blog being free hosted by wordpress.COM
I’m so sorry I had to bum you out but we cannot help you here and you failed to help yourself.

You have not provided a link to your WordPress.COM blog.
Please provide a link: http:// ???Perhaps you are in the wrong forum and don’t realize your mistake.
The links provided by our ever-polite suppertbot will be helpful.oncilla has a self-hosted blog using WordPress.org software. This forum is for folks with WordPress.COM blogs. Our software is different from wp.org, so answers here do not apply to wp.ORG users.
If you have a wp.COM blog, and have a question, then this forum is where you will find the best of the best help…
but remember to link to the blog you are asking about…

@Tess
In the op this is staed:Here is the wordpress I am going to ask about. Its a wootheme called Gazette. http://miss-mary-jane.nichegoldwebsites.com
Question 1.) Right above the adsense box, I would like to add a blank box so I can add a graphic for an eBook.
It’s not a free blog from wordpress.COM that’s being free hosted by wordpress.COM and we can’t have Adsense or any other advertising on wordpress.COM blogs.

@oncilla, the support bot is right, and you are in the wrong forum. You need to inquire over at http://wordpress.ORG/support/ as that is where self-hosted blogs are supported. We know very little about that software since here at wordpress.COM the bloggers have no access to the backend of wordpress.

You should also read this link that the support bot suggested to get clear on the differences between .COM and .ORG: http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ .
