Unable to access my Word Press TheNotableNetworker account. Log in sends me to ninatoastmasters.wordpress.com. Have read Domain Management. Can’t log in under the proper account to make any adjustments. Support is gone until the 19th. Can anyone help me?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Nothing is wrong http://www.thenotablenetworker.com/ is not a WordPress.COM account and seems to be hosted at Godaddy, the site seems to be blank with just a place holder. No software installed at all, are you trying to have a self hosted WordPress.ORG software based site??

Your http://ninatoastmasters.wordpress.com/ is hosted at WordPress.COM and will not get you to the above site ever.

If you want to use http://www.thenotablenetworker.com/ on your WordPress.COM blog, you need to buy the domain mapping upgrade and attach that URL to the blog.

I would recommend holding off till the 19th, given the number of domain-related problems that have sprung up lately.

    @raincoaster

I did a whois on thenotablenetworker and the Name servers seem to still be pointing at Godaddy, if they were part way through the shift should the name servers be pointing to WordPress.com and then when you try to go to thenotablenetworker things should sort of crash because the Domain Mapping is not done?

Or is there some hand shaking between WordPress.com and Godaddy before Godaddy actually changes the pointing to a WordPress.com name servers?

    thanks

No, no handshaking. The DNS change is just logged, saved, and the info is sent our for updating in the internet name servers.

Go back to Godaddy domain management and make sure that the nameservers are listed as

    ns1.wordpress.com
    ns2.wordpress.com
    ns3.wordpress.com

@tsp – not my name transfer , I was wondering how things went on behind the screen so to speak – I have a couple of Domain Mapping things coming up here and was wondering a bit.

If I have a self hosted .ORG site and I transfer it to WordPress.COM and map to the exact same domain name, with the same content then I am thinking that it would be fairly transparent to the visitors?

    thanks

They would not notice a difference, except for possibly the theme change. That and any images will show up with the blogname.wordpress.com URL rather than yourdomain.com.

That reminds me: if you got a lot of searches from Google Image Search coming to your blog, the ranking on your images will be broken and unfortunately you’ll lose those searches and have to start again.

I have only had the WP Stats package on for a month, but I don’t think I have seen a search to an image, so that should not be an issue. Thanks for the warning on that part.

The site is mostly boating safety – I did have some personal pictures on the site of sailing with some friends but I moved them to another site a few months back and when I sent links, the links were to the Post and not a picture, I then put a “this has moved” message in the Post in case someone saved the link from last summer.

Thanks for all the help !!
