Need your help. eCommerce inquiry – Precious Metals
-
Hi There
I am starting an eCommerce Precious Metals dealer. I used Wix which is clearly a mistake because of the capabilities. May I please get the assistance of your team to answer my questions. I believe I might need to move over to WordPress once the questions are answered. Its pertaining to Precious Metals and spot price plugs in.
Warm regards

Hi there
Thank you so much for the reply.
So I am confused when looking up specific information on your site.
The rundown is simple, we are an eCommerce Precious Metals dealer. We buy and sell Gold & Silver Bullion. With this industry, we require a live spot price for gold and silver. This is updated continuously and when a client picks an item, it needs to go to the checkout with our markup. For example, if they use different types of payments they will qualify for a discount.
From a functionalist perspective,
– Once an order is placed we need an automated email with receipt to the client and then to us for fulfillment.
– Email once the item is shipped and once received.
– Does this have a stock and inventory reports?
– Automated live prices (Precious Metals) – API
– Tax calculations if required on certain purchases. We have got a Domain name, email addresses and a website. The website is through wix and sadly I never did enough research on the Ecommerce side which I take full accountability for. With that being said, we have invested lots of money on this so far. Can we still retain the domain name and website but move it over to WordPress to get the website functional and ready to start trading?
What are the cost implications? Are there added costs for API’s or are they already part of the plan?
I look forward to hearing from you

Were you planning on using WooCommerce as the eCommerce solution?
If so, they will be the best team to assist you with your inquiries. You can reach out to them via their presales contact form:

I did contact WooCommerce, they suggested WordPress. hence I am in contact with you because Wix does not allow integration. Due to the volume of time and money we used already I asked the other questions about retaining my domain name and so on.
So they last reply was suitable for the questions I asked. May you please give me clarity on the points I have I asked as I am no closer to any answers.
Thanks

Hi there,
First of all, I don’t think it’s possible to keep your site at Wix, as neither WordPress nor WooCommerce integrates with their platform. This means that you’ll need to have your site built with WordPress and use the WooCommerce plugin for your store.
WooCommerce does all that you asked above. It supports some of those features natively, while others can be done with the use of an extension or a plugin. For example, here’s a plugin that automatically calculates precious metals spot prices:
https://ignitewoo.com/woocommerce-extensions-plugins-themes/woocommerce-precious-metals/
I would suggest though to follow up with the presales team at WooCommerce as they’re the experts and they’ll provide you with all the information that you need.
