Needing to get an epp code to transfer a domain

I’m trying to get a transfer code so we can move domain ownership to our current registrar. I’ve tried to follow the instructions but where it says to go to Domains, click edit and then ‘Transfer Domain’ (https://en.support.wordpress.com/transfer-domain-registration/) – I do not see that button to transfer.
Checking our Whois record, I see that they have a series of locks placed on the domain (created in 2013) including a prohibition against transferring the domain. According to Icann, I can request to have the restrictions removed but can’t get a straight answer out of this site to contact a living person to get an issue resolved that would normally take less than 30 minutes to resolved.
Who in the world do I need to contact or what do I need to do to get any locks – privacy, transfer or otherwise to be removed so I can get this domain transferred?

Have you disabled domain privacy as part of the transfer process as it explains in the instructions? That is a necessary step.
