Neither Ubud or Studio theme not showing thumbnails

I can’t get the thumbnail view to work in either the Ubud or Studio themes. I just get a single large image for each post in the first view, the posts then run vertically down as you scroll.
I have changed the theme settings to 2, 3, 4 or 5 columns, but nothing seems to happen when I do?

To create the thumbnail/grid view in the Studio theme, please take a look at the following:

The directions will fall under the header, Portfolio Page.Once you’ve created your Portfolio Page, you can choose to display it as your homepage by following these directions:

i can’t get the studio theme to show the thumbnails as per above, i don’t want a static page, and when i follow the instructions my post seem to disappear, so I am giving up on that.
I have the Ubud theme sort of working, the grid is there but no images are showing, the rollovers work and show the post title, and when you click on, it goes thru to the image and post fine, just the opening page doesn’t show pictures?

I’m sorry the instructions aren’t working for you. If you’d like, I can walk you through how to set up a portfolio page (the thumbnail/grid page like the Design page in the Studio theme demo). The theme author can also help you set that up if you post your questions in the Studio support forum here:

If you decide you’d rather not use the Studio theme, you can activate a different theme on your site and request a refund on the Studio theme (within 30 days of purchase) from Store > My Upgrades in your dashboard. We have more about that here: My Upgrades: Canceling Upgrades

Does this happen when you activate the Ubud theme on your site at http://jamiemacfadyen.wordpress.com/ ? I’d be happy to help you with that, or you can get help with it directly from the Ubud theme author in the Ubud support forum here:

However, it would help if you could activate the Ubud theme on that site first. That way we can see exactly what’s going on and help you sort that out.

i have the ubud theme showing thumbnails via selecting a featured image, however, most show as square which is what i want, some show as various horizontal rectangular shapes and if you load in a vertical featured image it gives a vertical thumb?

I see what you mean about not all of the thumbnails appearing as square. The theme should respect the square setting you selected under Appearance > Customize > Theme. In this case, it’s best to post about this directly in the Ubud support forum so the theme author can check to see if this is due to a bug in the theme or some other issue:
