"Nesting" posts on Twenty Twelve
-
Not sure “nesting” is the right word here, but….
I’m using Twenty Twelve; rather than have each post appear in full separately, I want to set it up so that only a portion of the post appears–at the end of which would be a “read more” link or something to direct people to the rest of the article.
The idea is for people to see the 3-4 or so latest posts when they open the site, rather than have to scroll down all the way through to find the post they want (a la DailyKos, for example).
Is that possible? Does anyone know how to do that? Or do I need to find a different theme that would let me do that (and if so, how much of a pain is it to switch themes in mid-stream?)
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
The setting here > Settings > Reading is only for the RSS Feed summary and does not affect the posts. If you want to display only excerpts on the front page of the blog followed by read more links, you can insert “the more tag” into each post prior to publication.

Also note that you set the number of posts that will be displayed on the front page here > Settings > Reading
Blog pages show at most __posts

Perfect! Thank you!
Any chance you know how to make changes to the right column in 2012? I want to add a blogroll there but haven’t figured out how to change it (and if it’s not obvious, have very little time/expertise to try to figure these things out…)

Hi again,
To create a Blogroll in your dashboard see here http://en.support.wordpress.com/blogroll/add-a-blogroll-link/
To use a Links widget to display it see here http://en.support.wordpress.com/blogroll/#links-widgetAll widgets are installed and uninstalled at > Appearance > Widgets
All themes here will display a default display that appears to contain a sample set of widgets in the sidebar and/or sidebar when you have not yet added any of your own. Go to Appearance > Widgets and add the widgets you desire and configure them and the default display will disappear.
