  I am trying to publish a post, I have opted for a free account, but each time I POST the site is trying to get me to pay for an account ?

  I see a post already published on your site at https://suzanhassan.wordpress.com/

  Do you mean you’re trying to launch the site to make it public? On the domains step, click the Skip Purchase option. Then you’ll see the option to continue with the free plan on the next step.
