New Account
-
Hello. I used a third party company, LogoTale to design and initial host my website on WordPress. I would now like to create my own WordPress account to update my site. Can I switch the existing site architecture to my new account? Also I have around 6 more months of hosting already paid for. Will this be credited to my new account?
Thanks,

Hi there:
To avoid confusion, there are three different “WordPress” at play here:
- The free, open-source WordPress software which powers your website.
- WordPress.org which is the open-source project that works on the WordPress software and where you can get the software for free to use on your own hosting provider.
- WordPress.com which is a managed hosting provider of the WordPress software and with whom you’re contacting now.
Is your intent to transfer your site and its hosting to WordPress.com or are you wanting to continue hosting your WordPress site with LogoTale? Additionally, since WordPress.com is a separate company, any payments, credits, or plans from LogoTale would not be transferrable. It would be similar to trying and transferring an Amazon Prime membership to Netflix.
If you need an account to manage your site, you would need to have LogoTale help you with that. Additionally, you would need to have an account on your site to initiate any site transfer process, so regardless of where you want to host your website, LogoTale needs to give you access if you don’t already have it.
I hope that clarifies things!

Thanks for the response and the clarification.
I would like to transfer the website and hosting to WordPress.com. I currently have the backside access to my website. Is this all I would need to transfer the hosting? -
Howdy,
Great to hear! We’d love to have you here on WordPress.com.
We have a great document that talks about the various methods for moving a site to WordPress.com:
https://wordpress.com/support/import/import-an-entire-wordpress-site/
And these are the requirements:
- A WordPress.com website with our Business or eCommerce plan.
- Jetpack version 7.9 or higher activated on the self-hosted site.
- The person importing must be a user who is an admin on both sites (source and destination) and is connected to via Jetpack to both sites.
- All incompatible plugins deactivated on the self-hosted site.
Take a look and let us know what questions you have. We’ll be happy to assist.
