  1. I have a domain on another server which I would to transfer to WordPress. Where on WP can I find the correct instructions on how to make such a transfer?
  2. Am I correct in assuming that I can set up a WP site and then assign a new, or transferred, domain name to it?
  Thanks. Any information will be appreciated.

  It is not currently possible to transfer a domain registration to WordPress.com, so you will need to leave your domain registered at your current registrar and keep paying them for the annual renewal. But you can still use the domain with a site hosted here by connecting it via the domain mapping upgrade.

  To add domain mapping, go to My Sites ->Domains ->Add and click the Map It option. Domain mappings can only be added as part of a plan, but as you have an older account you might still be able to add a mapping upgrade without needing a plan.
