New Admin….
-
The person who originally set up the blog for our school website has sent me an “Invite” so I can take over the blogging for our school website. When I accepted the invite, I was taken to a screen that asked me to sign up. I never had a blog account, so I had to create one. Which confuses me, because I just want to take over the blog account for our school that is already set up.
Now I’m receiving emails from a different school asking me to set up my “wordpress” account. Why am I receiving emails about my wordpress account from another school? Also, I practiced blogging and it didn’t post to our school website. So, what went wrong?
KathyThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
You misunderstood. The person being invited will have to register a username account, if they do not already have one, but they do not need to register a blog. They will need to click the “Accept Invitation” button in the invitation email. If they are logged into their WordPress.com account, they will be taken directly to the blog. If not, they will be taken to the log-in screen, where they can either log in or create a new user account.Note that users who create a new WordPress.com account at that point will still need to return to the invitation email and click the “Accept Invitation” button after doing so.

Thank you timethief. I will have that person resend me the “invite” as I now have a account. But when you replied to my comment, your email showed that it is from “the other school” that I’m not signed up for. Weird.

Timethief, can I delete the Blog account I set up, so I can sign up for User Account instead?
-
DO NOT DELETE ANYTHING!
I tagged this thread for Staff assistance with sorting this out. Please be patient while waiting. -
Oops……..sorry, I deleted the blog site. I was going to set up just a account, as you suggested. I’m waiting for the admin. to send me another invite.

Hi there!
What is this “other school” you’re referring to? What is the site you’re trying to administer? Do you have access now that your current administrator has reinvited you?
-
Shawnajroberts,
Hi. Yes, I do have access now that I’ve been reinvited to the St. Andrew Parish Church & School.
However, everytime I receive an email regarding WordPress.com it comes from Delavan Darien School District. I don’t understand why the emails come from DDSD. Can you help me figure out why?
Kathy -
Shawn,
For example, the email I just received from you, the subject line says “wordpress” but the “received from” says “Delavan Darien School District News”.
This baffles me. Why wouldn’t the email say that it is from WordPress?
Kathy -
Strange “From” names like that happen when you add “(email visible only to moderators and staff)” to your address book. Your email client attaches a name to the address based on the From line of one of the emails you’ve received from that address. The problem is we use that address to deliver a lot of different types of messages.
For example, we use the address to send subscription emails when a site you follow (Iike Delavan Darien School District News) sends an update. We also use it to send forum support request updates.
Your email client can’t tell the difference between those types of email so it tells you they are all from Delavan Darien School District News.
It doesn’t hurt anything, just looks confusing.
