new and lost
-
I just set up a blog at colepack.wordpress.com. I paid wordpress to use my domain colepack.net
So, i have been reading a lot and can not figure out how to add plugins (widgets). I read to use FTP and then read FTP does not work with wordpress.com. I know others who had a wordpress.com blog and they can enter code (like meebo) and it shows, mine doesn’t. I am usually pretty good with techie stuff but I am lost.
How do I upload my own widgets. -
Blogs hosted at wordpress.COM cannot upload or use plugins.
If the widget code you want to use is pure HTML then it may very well work here when pasted into a test widget, but you won’t know until you try. Not all HTML code is supported. If the code contains javascript, iframes, forms or flash, it will be stripped out due to security concerns.

so, if i switch hosting or just forward to wordpress, I can use FTP and upload? How do I turn off the hosting?

If the blog is hosted here at wordpress.COM, you cannot FTP anything. You would have to have your site hosted somewhere like godaddy, or hostgator or somewhere like that.
