New Author can't create login info by following link

    One of my writers can’t access the blog through the link sent to her email. She gets a message saying, “you are lost.” She says: “I got the email but I can’t get to any wordpress.com site. I keep getting a ‘you are lost” message, even when I just googled wordpress.com and didn’t use any of the links. Do you know how I can fix this?”

    I’ve never seen this, and the blog seems to work fine on my end. What can I tell her to do?

  • I there. Do I understand correctly that this person doesn’t have their own username account yet?

    Have her first clear her browser cache and cookies and reset her router/modem as well for good measure: http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/

    Then have her type “wordpress.com” directly into her browser’s address bar. Once the WordPress homepage loads, she can register a username account. On the screen where one has to pick a blog URL she can click the link to continue without creating a blog if she doesn’t want her own. Once the account is created, she can go back to her email and confirm the invitation.

    Okay, so she doesn’t have to follow the link in the email to create her username account? Right now she can’t access any wordpress blog of any kind, not even simply wordpress.com. I’ll suggest the cache/cookies, but we’re all the same university wireless system, so I don’t think we’re able to reset a modem anywhere. I’m on the same system and having no problems.

    No, she can create a username directly form the login page.

    If you’re on the same network and she can’t access a connection you can, then the problem is most likely with her computer itself. Check the cache and cookies, and also make sure she has the latest version of her browser and is using one of the browsers listed here: http://browsehappy.com/ She can also check if she has the same problem if using a different browser.

    Also perhaps check if WordPress.com is not blocked in the browser’s security settings.
